IN A HOLIDAZE, Christina Lauren
December 2020

“I’ve essentially handed my heart over to the person who’s had it on reserve for half my life, and I’m terrified that he doesn’t realize what he’s holding.”

Maelyn Jones favorite thing in the world is spending Christmas in a cabin in Utah, surrounded by her family and their chosen family who have kept this tradition alive since she was a child. As they drive away after finding out it would be their last Christmas there, Maelyn’s wish for happiness tosses her into a time loop, always back on her way to the cabin days earlier.

If you’re looking for a fluffy Christmas romance, this is a great choice! It was sweet, keeps you smiling all the way through, and comes with a friends-to-lovers-trope I know so many people enjoy. The snowy cabin setting and traditional holiday get-togethers made me feel so warm inside, especially in the midst of physical distancing. This is the book equivalent of sipping cocoa next to your Christmas tree. 🎄☕️

While I enjoyed this book, unfortunately some parts didn’t do it for me. I’m into Groundhog Day situations and was disappointed this fell by the wayside early on; I wish they did more here. I also found Maelyn and Andrew’s relationship and banter a bit forced – too much talking, not enough actual noticeable development.
